What Does Training The Brain Have to Do With Training The Body

Training the body is a concept everyone understands. 

 

  • Exercise
  • Hustle
  • Working Hard

 

The belief of “If I just workout harder, have more motivation, push myself, then I will make the gains I want.”

 

Yet most people forget about the most crucial component to training and health:  The Brain….

 

Nobody wants to talk about that.  It’s certainly not sexy to say you worked out your brain today.  You don’t post selfies of your workout at the “brain gym…”. Nope, that doesn’t get the LIKES.

 But it should.

 Without the health and training of the mind, the body will never achieve all the goals it sets out to do. 

The Body Achieves What the Mind Believes

 

The Stories in the brain that hold you back from the health and success you long for.  Most people aren’t even aware of these stories:

  • I can’t…
  • I’m too old…
  • I could never….
  • I don’t have time…
  • I don’t have the energy/motivation

 

Ever caught yourself saying one of those to yourself?  Sure, we all have.  It’s so normal we don’t even notice it. 

The good news is:  It’s Not Your Fault!  And it CAN be changed

 

You see, our brains are designed to keep us comfortable and safe.  Stepping out of our normal comfort zone and challenging the body in ways it has never been challenged is scary to the brain.  So it starts telling you those stories.  So every time you get the inclination to start taking care of your health, when you get the “motivation,” you go strong for a while, until the brain screams at you STOP.  This is when it starts getting hard, uncomfortable, inconvenient, you’re tired.  Yep, we’ve all been there.

 

It isn’t until we change that story in the brain that we can continue to move forward when those stories pop up.

This is why so many people spin in circles, always looking for the next best fitness routine and diet….only to get discouraged because it didn’t work….again….

And you question why you even try.

 

The only way you’ll finally get the results you’ve always wanted in your health and body is to start changing the beliefs and removing those stories that have held you back from the success you want.

 

It starts with a 4-R Process:

  • Recognize:  Acknowledge the thought.
  • Record:  Write the thought down.  Trust me, the process of WRITING makes a huge difference.
  • Refute:  Write down the reasons that thought it NOT true.
  • Replace:  Write a new thought.  Example-if the thought is "I can't," write down ways that you can....ways that it could be possible.  Maybe not today, but someday.

 When this process starts working, suddenly you start to see the reality of your potential and the potential of your body.  You start to finally BELIEVE that you can have health and success.

When we start to see the importance of our brains in the process of healing our bodies, transforming our health and progressing into our best selves, the magic in our body starts to happen.

The body is capable of amazing things.  Age, time, health status do not have to be limiting factors. 

So you see, the brain has all the power.  When you train it to start working for you, rather than against you, you will finally start to see the results you long for.
